You all welcome to my post and i am sure if you are reading this post then you must be looking for immigration for canada through express entry or by other ways . For the same reason i created this blog where we all can drop queries and solutions so that we can help our other friends. The major issue which many aspirants are facing is that WES ( world education services ) is not entertaining degree from SMU (sikkim manipal university).

 Therefore the growing concern is that if WES will not asses our degree then how we will qualify or get assesed for our  Graduation degree or PG degree. Well i have gone through this whole process and yes, need not to worry there are other 4 organisation who asses these degrees as per my information.  Especially i have seen some degrees assesd by IQAS but like many immigration agents don't wanna take this pain so they will say that no there is no other agency that serves you for assesment in canada.  But i have seen SMU degrees assessed by IQAS and if anyone is having any query regarding immigration to canada they can ask freely in my comments and i will try to give answers and others also request to give suggestions to our inquisitive friends here.
Also note that this is just a free blog for our friends who are wandering here n der for help. Any other queries are also most welcome regarding canada immigration.


PS : I am receiving queries regarding which one is good in IQAS or ICAS . Well both are good only diffrence is IQAS will take 20days after receiving transcripts whereas ICAS will do it in 5 months. So if you are running short of time go for IQAS and if you have ample time go for ICAS. ICAS has proper format of tracking your application status on the other hand IQAS is run by Alberta government so it may not provide you application tracking and you have to wait for 20 days after receiving transcripts ,though they will update you through emails.

      We hope so as i have seen degree which is assessed by IQAS and it was an MBA from SMU.but like mant consultant deny that it is not possible because they do not wants to take extra burden as its a bit timely process in comparison to WES.

      Could you please share some information regarding your SMU degree that whether it was distance edu. or regular and in which year did you pass out? I have SMUDE MBA to be assessed by IQAS. Is it sure that IQAS assesses SMU degrees?

      Well Iqas will asses your SMU distance degree. Else you can opt for ICAS which is doing ECA for SMu distance degree

      Well i have seen one assesment from IQAS on linkedin but in person nobody gave any concrete information regarding iqas so, i recommend ICAS for SMU.

      I did distant MBA from SMU unvsty during 2012-2014 so i think only IQAS can help me out while on the other hand i can complete my Btech assessment via my University...

    I am not interested in ICAS as it takes 6-7 months. I am asking for IQAS as they take 10-15 days in assessment.

    I know a few and seen there ECA from IQAS who got there degree assesed from IQAS but i am not sure whether they will asses a degree post 2012 of smu.

      With out any hasseles your degree will be assesd by both IQAS or ICAS. Dont worry and just follow the procedure. IQAS is quicker that ICAS.

      Dear for Icas we have many examples who got ECA of there SMU degree and time is usually 6 months by ICAS and IQAS takes around 15days after receiving documents and we are getting postive response for SMU. Hence you can apply any of these you will get assessed.

    Hello,

    I reviewed my B.com from Delhi university with WES and got a positive result as my agent said a clear NO to do the ECA for my MBA in Total Quality Management from SMU (DE). Now when I saw this blog, I am hopeful to get my MBA reviewed as well from IQAS. Please suggest that I need to send my graduation details as well for assessment or just the MBA details?

      Yes you have to provide all your details to IQAS or ICAS. I mean your grad. And postgraduation details.

      IQAS is faster. It will do it in 20 days after receiving transcripts. Icas will take 5 months.

    I have spoken to the helpline of smudde. And they said that I am required to send a mail to helpdesk@smudde.edu.in

    I have sent them a mail and waiting for a response.

    Do I need my original semester mark sheets or are the transcripts they provide enough from the college.
    I am asking because I am missing my original sem 5 marksheet and its a hassle filing an FIR etc. for duplicates.

    Also, Will I need the original marksheet at any point of the immigration process or will the transcripts be enough?

    All my other documents are complete.

      Well you need to send all the xerox of your marksheets and degrees that you have . And smu will send the transcript to ICAS directly or IQAS. They will charge around 1400 INR

      To add on to my earlier message....my brother got 2 e-mail confirmations from IQAS, one on 26th August that they have received documents sent by me to them and second e-mail on 7th September that they have also received my academic documents sent directly by Sikkim Manipal University (Though as per courier tracking they received my documents on 3rd August and University documents on 11th August).
      Still waiting and hoping for positive ECA (As per IQAS website current processing time is ~9 weeks)

      I have already sent my B.tech transcripts (not from SMU)to WES for ECA and waiting for the result. And for MBA since its from SMU, i want to sent to IQAS, so while sending to iqas , only my MBA Transcripts are enough right ? or do i need to send the B.tech Transcripts as well also with MBA ?

      Also i have requested SMU to post the transcripts to my home address instead of IQAS directly as i thought it is better for me check and post to iqas directly... Hope iqas will accept this way as long as the envelope is sealed and stamped ?

      I had the same query. I asked IQAS. Here is the reply.

      Generally IQAS accepts official transcripts/mark sheets that confirm graduation, and which are sent directly by the issuing institution. Official transcripts sent directly by the issuing institution(s) may be a photocopy of the diploma supplement bearing the institution(s)’ respective stamps on them. We do not require the original transcripts issued to a student upon graduation, and no other form of legalization is required. However, in cases where the issuing institution cannot send transcripts directly to IQAS, they may provide you with a sealed envelope with your attested transcripts enclosed which may be couriered by you to our office. The envelope must remain sealed, and has to be stamped with the institution’s official seal across the back flap. If there are concerns about the integrity of the documents, our office will contact you.

      IQAS do not accept third party envelops and it is stated on there website also.
      And there is one form which has to be filled and stamped by university and shall be attached in the same envelope in which transcript will be posted.

Can you please detail the process of doing IQAS. From filling the form to contacting the university and finally getting the ECA. i mean each steps involved and how to contact SMU to send our documents to IQAS. Also fees details payment required in each step. I have done my degree (BA) from SMU and MBA from IGNOU. Should i get ECA for both the qualifications at one go or two different application forms required.

    First you register to iqas and make payment then they will give you a form to be filled by university. You take 2 copies of that form and send that to each university along with application and desired fees of both universities for transcript . You contact both universities and ask them for procedure for issuing of transcript. I think both of them are having toll free number.
    Also request them to send the transcript to IQAS or ICAS canada.

    You also send a copy of all your marksheets along with degree to iqas. After receiving documents iqas will take 20days whereas ICAS will take 5 months.

    Hi, Thanks for the great website. I have a question. I have done my BE from Univertity of Pune and MS (computers) from SMU (distance education). Do I need to do the ECA for both the degrees or only the Master's degree should be ECAed?

    Also - I have a consolidated mark-sheet of all four years from SMU. Should I send that + Degree or I need to send all the marksheets of all the exams.

      1. You have to send transcripts n marksheets along with both degrees. I.e grad. As well as your pg degree.

      I think you should send both of them to IQAS as there is no additional cost for the number of degrees you get verified.

    Hello Bro,

    I have completed my MBA in HR from SMU DE 2014-2016. I have emailed to ICAS AND IQAS. ICAS said "Distance education programs recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC) or UGC at the time of your admission" and IQAS said "IQAS cannot provide a statement about the assessment result prior to completing the assessment process. Determining whether your particular credentials meets IQAS assessment criteria may require research of the educational institution and academic program, which would be possible only after you submit your application and all the necessary documents."

    ICAS said they will take 5 months to evaluate and IQAS said they will take 2 months to evaluate. my main question is are you sure does IQAS do eca from SMU DE ? as they emailed me said once they will receive the docs they we let you know. please help

    I am planning to get my two degrees assesed from IQAS BTech ( UPTU university) and MBA (SMU-DE). Isnt it better if i get both Transcript at my home address (sealed and stamped) and then courier them as a single envelope to IQAS. What do you recommend ?

    Query 2. Any idea on turn around time of IQAS, website says 9 weeks.

      It will be easier to courier one Envelope. 9 week is the time taken from the day they acknowledge your package. It takes about 3-4 weeks to acknowledge them from the date your courier service delivers it

    Note: i posted the transcripts to iqas on my own after getting them from smu to my home address- that is the only the different approach i did- hope iqas accepts it.

    Hi All,

    I have completed Masters from SMU in 2009 and was thinking of evaluating the degree through IQAS.
    For me the issue is I only have consolidated marksheet so i have below questions.

    1) Consolidated Markesheet with grades and subject details would be enough for IQAS ECA evaluation?
    2) if so, will it create problems down the line when I'll submit documents to CIC? (I'm being optimistic here)
    3) Can i request SMU for sending transcript for all semester even though i have consolidated one?
    4) if consolidated Marksheet is acceptable, can i ask SMU to send a transcript for that alone?

    Please someone could guide me on this so that i can move ahead with process.

    I have have sent my all smu MBA mark sheets & Degree I have received first mail from iqas but said they have not received my degree ,then i again got the degree stamped from SMU and sent it again ,i am little worried will i get a positive ECA or not , many of the consultants denied that smu degree is not recognised in IQAS but after reading this blog i gained some confidence, kindly share your experience regarding this.

    As per Fedex my Docs were sent on 18th Sept 2017, its been 3 weeks, I still did not get a single email from iqas confirming they received my Application with Docs .

    Is this delay normal ? or Should i wait longer ? Or Should i contact iqas and ask for the status ?

    They take 3-4 weeks to acknowledge. I received the acknowledgement on 7-sep which was after 4 weeks they received my documents. I am still waiting for eca from IQAS. Let’s see how much more time they take as after receiving all documents they take 9 weeks

      Hi Reni, if we are sending bt ourselves, then no form needs to be filled by SMU. And yes tou can fill iqas aftet getting the transcripts. But i think its better if you can request smu to send directly sincde its more easily accepted.

    1.Can I first get my MBA transcript from SMU before registering with IQAS?
    2.Is there any part of the form that SMU needs to fill?
    Abhilek mentioned".Hi Guys, for requesting transcripts from SMU need below documents which was confirmed by the university early this month:
    - 1 photocopy of MBA degree certificate
    - 1 photocopy of all Semester mark sheets
    - Demand draft of INR 1700 in favor of Sikkim Manipal University payable at Gangtok (including all fees including courier charges to Canada)

    3.What is the postal adress of smu to which i should send the photocopies of degree certificate, mark statements and dd to?
    4.What DD amount should I state in case i want the sealed transcript delivered to my residential address not to Canada?(1700/- including courier to Canada right)

    I intend to get the sealed MBA transcript from smu, put it along with IQAS application form and Bsc sealed transcript in one big envelope and send it to IQAS for ECA. All those who are done with the process pleaseadvise.

    Hello Guys,

    Need some guidance here.

    I am planning to get my Bachelors from VTU, Bangalore and Masters from SMUDE assessed by IQAS.

    I am planning to receive the sealed transcripts to my residential address and courier to IQAS personally. Is there any issue in doing so?.

    Do we need to have the transcript request form filled by the universities and put into the sealed envelopes?

    Please suggest me the ideal steps

      Dear HK,
      From earlier responses I don't think there is a problem in personally sending the transcript to iqas provided you don't tamper with the seal.

      As to the second part of your question even I have a doubt...is there any part of the form that smu needs to fill and be placed inside the sealed envelope by the university? Somebody with prior knowledge please reply..

    Looks like we are in the same boat..The same thing happened to me...i was asked to login to edunxt/myzone... go to quick links then helpdesk and download from there.I used my registration number for login and the same thing as password but no use...a form pops up asking need help?Fill the form below and click submit. The help form disappears but again a new form comes...no help with the transcript application form...Have you received any reply from SMU in this regard?

      I have completed MBA from SMU in 2010. I would like to know if SMU degree is evaluated by IQAS.

      In addition to that what all documents they would need to assess.

      If i send them Bachelors and Master copies will that enough? Do i need to send them year wise break up marksheets? should i also send them convocation certicate too.

      Hi Suman,
      Most folks who have done distance education from SMU are sticking to IQAS for ECA as they do asess these positively unlike WES. ICAS also does a positive ECA however they take around 6 months or more to generate the ECA.

      Check out the list of educational documents to be submitted in the IQAS website eg:transcripts ,xerox copies of mark statement etc.....and also check the application checklist to ensure you send the right documents to get a positive ECA.

    Hello i done my mba from smu distance learning 2014-2016 and graduating from delhi University regular.
    I applied for transcript in both the university both will send it to my address in 15 days.
    I have two questions
    1) i go for iqas or icas
    2) as i already applied for transcripts they will send it to my address can i send them to iqas/icas in one big envelope with all required documents and signed application

      2. Someone has tried by sending in one big envelope though being experienced i do not advice .. but still i am expecting a positive response through one big envelop from that person.. lets see if anyone writes his experience on that big envelope.

      It was me and I got positive result.
      I sent all my docs which included degree certificate, pass certificate, IQAS checklist and application form, Proof of Identity, Both transcripts (B.tech and MBA) (Sealed and tempered proof) in a single big envelope and sent then across. I received positive result yesterday evening :)

    To all my fellow aspirants.. i am making this clear once again as i saw so many queries for IQAS . IQAS has only one drawback that they will not give u any updates . You cannot track your status.. but its ok.. you need not to worry and they will do it for sure in a positive manner. In cas you have time for 6months and need tracking for every action than go for ICAS.

      Hi Nitin, iqas will comfirm via email after 4 weeks from the date it was delivered to them. So check with post tracking as to when ur docs were delivered, from then wait for 4 weeks for the email.

      Transcript is not what you are thinking. First you pay to iqas through online page . Later you request your university a transcript and that will be in a sealed envelope. Once you receive that at that time you courier it to IQAS along with all relevent documents.

    I finally received the email copy today and its a successful report for my MBA degree.

    Submitted on 18sept and received the final email today on 28Nov, so total process time is about 2.5 months.

    Special thanks to Kamal for this awsome Blog.

    Fyi- My MBA was from 2012-2014 and i got the transcripts from SMU posted to my home and then i posted it again by myself in an envolope to iqas and iqas accepts this process as long as you make sure the envolope you send is properly sealed and has the SMU stamp with sign on it.

I looked up online and I don't see any link on smu where i can request the transcripts for evaluation. Did you hire any thrid party or is there a link on SMU that can be used to request transcripts.

    You first pay on iqas website
    2. Confirmation email will come from iqas
    3. Contact smu helpline no. And ask them for the request form for transcript.
    4. Attach a demand draft of 1400 rs and send it along with other documents to smu.
    5 mention delivery address of transcript as iqas address in that application form to SMU.
    They will courier it to them.

    You can track your request with SMU helpline no. And also you can ask them to provide you the tracking no. Of courier to canada.

    But could please advise what does IQAS actually look at when providing assessment ? Is it the subjects?

    I have my degree in BBA (Logistics & Supply chain management) from Modern Institute of Management-INDIA , i tried it with WES but WES didnot recognise the University. Should i try with IQAS now? Will they refund the fee incase it fails to provide the assessment? Please advise

      Dear,
      To be precise IQAS will asses only degrees which are valid in India by UGC and AICTE. Make sure that your degree or your institute is recognized under the captioned organizations.

      2) No they will not refund your fees. My advice is make sure your institute is recognized by UGC than apply.

      Prefer to attach all marksheets along with consolidated.
      2)for that you you need to mention your email.. i have pdf which wil be emailed to you.. else you can easily fint the procedure on google also and to the best of my knowledge DU will give you a sealed envelope as transcript which you have to courier straight to IQAS. Make sure no tempering with sealed envelope.

    I have a query. IQAS site says institutes have to directly send the transcripts to them. Don't they allow if I collect all transcripts (each one will be in sealed and signed envelope) and send them in one envelope? WES accepts this.

    Hi all,

    I've done BCA and MBA from SMU-DE and enrolled for ECA from IQAS.
    My application courier was received at iqas on 12 nov and i've got the confirmation for it on 12 dec. ( After full one month)
    courier of all academic record from SMU reached on 28th Nov, when can i expect an acknowledgment for the same ?? (Still awaiting the second email)
    and now the IQAS website said that they gonna take around 12 weeks of processing time, does it mean that another 12 weeks from the date of acknowledgment of receipt or receipt of the academic record which is 28th nov as per courier services

    i hope that we all are getting positive response but Is there anyone you hear about who got the result as unrecognized university for SMU from IQAS ??

      Please advice that 12 weeks of processing time (which was 9 weeks earlier when i've applied in NOV) is from the day they received the transcript from smu, (which is 28th Nov) or the day they send me the acknowledgment ( second email from them)

      I've to take some important decision based on this.

    From the above posts I understand that its better to send transcripts for both universities. But can I send transcript to IQAS directly once I received them from respective university.
